The Basics

The BasicsEven the addition of a few decorative moldings can make a difference. As seen here, crown molding and ogee molding above and below the cabinets enhance the look of this kitchen with a simple, elegant design that fits within any budget.

  1. Large cove casing replaces traditional door casing to add a designer detail to the doorway.
  2. Large cove molding, used as an above-cabinet treatment, accentuates the cooking area.
  3. Large cove casing and large cove molding at the ceiling unify the look of the entire room.
  4. Small cove molding adds a finishing touch above the cabinetry.
  5. A simple, streamlined cove corbel adds a decorative element to the wall hood.
  6. Cove light rail is beautiful and functional, used in this application to conceal under-cabinet lighting.
  7. Unify the look of the room by replacing traditional window casing with small cove casing.

Small cove casing is topped by large cove molding in maple with a Garnet Glaze finish. A cove ornament on a fluted column adds to the dramatic accents.

Inset light rail molding looks great by itself or can be customized with an insert like this ribbon twist molding.
